| In 1982, Connecticut established the first state operated treatment program for problem gamblers, The Compulsive Gambling Treatment Program. Part of the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the program's professional therapists help gamblers re-establish manageability and direction in their lives. Stopping gambling, a key to regaining control over one's own life, is accomplished with the help of state of the art treatment methods. An individualized treatment plan is developed for each client. Treatment may include individual, group, and/or family counseling, Clients are seen once or more each week depending on the level of care needed to achieve their goals. The Compulsive Gambling Treatment Program, available to all who live in Connecticut, is located in Middletown and operates a satellite office in New Haven.
